‘Kalki 2989 AD’: Prabhas-Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan’s dystopian magnum opus to release in June

Under the direction of Nag Ashwin, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ promises to be an expansive sci-fi fantasy. Leading the cast is the renowned ‘Baahubali’ actor Prabhas, joined by a stellar ensemble including industry giants like Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and others. Additionally, ‘Ek Villain 2’ actress Disha Patani will feature in a supporting capacity.

The wait is over! Prabha s’s upcoming magnum opus ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ finally has a release date. The Nag Ashwin directorial will be having a grand Pan-Indian release in June. Taking to X on Saturday, the makers announced the release date. Sharing the poster they wrote, “All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on 𝟐𝟕-𝟎𝟔-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.”

The post went viral, gaining more than 223K views and over 13K likes.

The poster features the three protagonists- Kalki (played by ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas, his wife/consort Padma (played by Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone), and Amitabh Bachchan (who will step into the shoes of Ashwatthama). The three seem to be standing in a desolate, desert-like environment.

A week ago, Bachchan’s look was unveiled and went viral on social media. In the teaser, Big B is seen praying to Lord Shiva. When a child asks him who he is, he reveals he is Guru Dronacharya’s son Ashwatthama.

Fans Go Ballistic

Reacting to the poster, a Prabhas fan wrote, “Get Ready for the STORM. Game on, as our Rebel Star #Prabhas is just 2 Months away from conquering Indian cinema once again! #Kalki2898AD KALKI Rampage In 2 Months..” wrote one.

Another wrote, “Nagi should be grateful to #Prabhas for existing in the same period, with his Eternal Stardom #Kalki2898AD can make it into Hollywood without any hesitation. Once Again! Prabhas is about to change the paradigm of INDIAN CINEMA.”

Another predicted it may become India’s first Rs 2,000 crore movie.

The budget of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is massive. The tentpole project has been mounted on a whopping Rs 600 crore budget.
