Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar and his actress-turned-writer wife, Twinkle Khanna have been married for 22 years. The duo tied the knot in 2001 and is blessed with two children, a son, Aarav and a daughter, Nitara. Despite the bond the couple has formed with each other over the years, we have repeatedly seen Akshay and Twinkle pranking or even hilariously pulling one another’s leg in their social media posts or joint interviews. Earlier, Twinkle also revealed having a different political ideology than her husband. And now, Akshay mentioned why it is important for the two of them to brush things related to politics, under the carpet.
Akshay Kumar reveals he has disagreements with Twinkle Khanna in matters of politics
In an interview with ANI, Akshay Kumar opened up about having a different political outlook than his wife, Twinkle Khanna. For the unversed, over the years, Akshay has taken an active part in supporting the government’s initiatives. But on the other hand, Twinkle prefers to talk about her political opinions through her columns. Thus, when Akshay was asked about the certain differences he and his wife have in matters of politics, he mentioned how they don’t impose their thoughts on each other. However, the actor also mentioned that they avoid political discussions at home to maintain the peace. He shared:
“My wife’s thinking about politics is different than me. We don’t impose on each other. We are completely different. We try and avoid that discussion. That is one discussion we try and avoid because there’s no point. You know how the other person thinks and you know how you think.”
Akshay adds he and Twinkle brush things under the carpet to live a happy married life
Further, in the same conversation, Akshay explained the importance of brushing things under the carpet. He revealed that while people believe in discussing every aspect of their lives, according to him, certain things should be put under the carpet to live a happy married life. Sharing the piece of advice for others too, Akshay added:
When Twinkle revealed if she had paid attention to Akshay’s comments, they would have gotten divorced
Earlier, in a 2021 blog in The Times Of India, Twinkle opened up about having opposite political views to that of her husband, Akshay. The witty writer mentioned that if she had given the due attention to whatever comments Akshay threw at her, they would have been divorced already. Further, she hilariously mentioned how she is keeping the marriage alive, Twinkle had penned:
“If I paid attention to the comments thrown my way, then either I should get a divorce because my partner and I hold opposing views on multiple issues or wear a sari and gyrate to Tip Tip Barsa Pani on alternate weekends to keep the marriage alive.”
