The trailer of the much-awaited Mirzapur Season 3 was launched in Mumbai on Thursday. The star cast of the show — Pankaj Tripati, Rasika Duggal, Ali Fazal, Vijay Verma and Shweta Tripathi among others — attended the grand launch event along with the presenters, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and Amazon Prime Video’s Nikhil Madhok.
While discussing the success of Mirzapur and its huge fan following, Farhan said that everywhere he goes he is only asked about Don 3, the third installment of Shah Rukh Khan’s Don films and for an update on Mirzapur 3.
Farhan Akhtar further said that he owes the success of Mirzapur Season 1 and 2 to the viewers. Referring to the show’s cast and crew, he shared, “The creative team has worked hard. Guru (the director), and the fantastic talent, these are the people who go out there and make the show for you, to make it what it is. We’re blessed to have these people collaborate with us on the show.”
“Mirzapur is truly one phenomenal show. The way it has made a place in the hearts of the audience all across the world. Whenever I go, people ask me two-three questions – ‘What are you doing here?’, ‘When will Don 3 and Mirzapur 3 come?’ These are the questions that I’m asked. So, I’m very happy that it (Mirzapur 3) is finally happening,” the actor-filmmaker added.
Farhan Akhtar was then asked how his production house, Excel Entertainment, manages to churn out content that has constantly been a hit among the viewers.
Crediting the writers and technicians of the show, Farhan said, “It has to be writing. If the writing is not good, nothing is going to work. We live in an age where if you don’t like it, then with a click of a button, you can just watch 50 other things. So the writing has to engage you. The characters have to be exciting.”
“With this incredible talent pool that we have on stage and in the show, it’s very, very difficult to turn your eyes away. So whether it’s the show and the other shows that you mentioned, we have been very fortunate to have been blessed with very strong creative teams who know writing for today’s audience, and that’s what I would credit them with,” he concluded.
Mirzapur Season 3 is scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime Video from July 5.
