Koffee With Karan 8: Twinkle Khanna, acclaimed for her outspoken and authentic expressions, recently offered her views on the debut episode of Koffee With Karan 8, featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

The duo shared insights into their love story, with Padukone admitting to seeing other men while in a relationship with Singh, sparking a significant reaction on social media. Stepping in to back Padukone is Twinkle Khanna, the wife of Akshay Kumar and a former actress herself.

For those unaware, Deepika Padukone faced a barrage of criticism following her statement about having been involved with other men before committing exclusively to Ranveer Singh. The ensuing backlash left Twinkle Khanna feeling perplexed.

In response, she articulated her thoughts in a column for the Times of India. This is what she said, “On Koffee with Karan, Deepika managed to outrage uncles, aunties, and an entire lot of India’s not-so-eligible bachelors by confessing that unlike her reel self, she did not swoon and fall at the feet of the first moustached suitor hanging around her. Instead, she had dated other men while also dating her future husband. The trolling she has received because of her admission is baffling. In fact, it has gone as far as students at Banaras Hindu University reportedly putting on a play where a girl plays Deepika and male students act as her past boyfriends.”

She further stated, “Her approach to finding a suitable partner though is rather logical. Suppose you want to buy a couch, wouldn’t you go to the store to figure out which one feels nice and bouncy, which has a comfortable backrest and which fabric doesn’t make your skin itch? But when it comes to the couch potato whom you have to snuggle against, you are expected to just pick one without testing out alternatives,” she added.

As per the revelations made by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh on the show, they began their relationship in 2012 and supposedly had a clandestine engagement around 2015.

Contrary to expectations, the couple chose to formalize their union through a traditional wedding ceremony held in Italy in November 2018.
