2023 sure was a great year for Bollywood! Not only did B-town films go back to smashing box office records, many celebs also decided to put an end to their long feuds and show a spirit of camaraderie that has been missing for quite a while in the industry. From Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol to Salman Khan and Arijit Singh, here’s 7 celeb pairs that decided to patch up this year.
Salman Khan and Arijit Singh
Salman Khan and Arijit Singh’s feud started at an award show, hosted by the actor, back in 2014. What happened? Well, when Arijit came on the stage in a rather casual look to receive an award, Salman asked him, ‘So gaye the,’ to which the singer responded, ‘Aap logon ne sula diya.’ However, things didn’t stop there! Salman clapped back by saying it was not their fault that songs like Tum Hi Ho kept playing at the event. Following the incident, Arijit Singh’s songs were removed from Salman’s upcoming films. While Arijit publicly apologised to the Tiger actor in 2016, their feud finally came to an end in 2023, with the singer crooning Leke Prabhu Ka Naam for Tiger 3.
Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi
While Sunny Deol did a number of hits projects with filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi in the 1990s, the duo reportedly had a fallout after they both wanted to work on two different films about freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. However, after almost 27 years, the two have joined hands for their upcoming movie Lahore 1947, hinting that everything is now in the past. Rajkumar Santoshi recently opened up about the feud, saying, ‘We did have a fallout. But he recognised me at a time when the world didn’t know me.’
Sonu Nigam and Bhushan Kumar
After almost three years, the feud between T-Series chief Bhushan Kumar and Sonu Nigam came to an end. For the unversed, things turned sour between them in 2020, after an article of some singers reacting to Sonu’s nepotism claims was released. Calling it a press release, Sonu took digs at Bhushan on his sexual misconduct allegations. As revenge, Bhushan’s wife Divya Khosla Kumar shared a video that indirectly indicated the singer was connected to the underworld and he owed his career to her father-in-law, Gulshan Kumar. However, since Aamir Khan wanted Sonu Nigam to sing a track for Laal Singh Chaddha, with T-Series music, Bhushan sorted things out and now all is well.
Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar
Govinda and David Dhawan
Bollywood’s iconic actor-director duo Govinda and David Dhawan, who had a fallout in 2014 after working in hit movies like Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1 and more, also buried their hatchet this year. For the unversed, Govinda confirmed his rift with David stemmed after he signed Rishi Kapoor in Chashme Baddoor.
Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan
Who doesn’t know about Sunny Deol’s infamous fight with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Darr. However, did you know the duo haven’t talked to each other ever since the film was released. Well, until 2023! During an interview with Zoom, Sunny revealed that SRK spoke to him before watching Gadar 2 and expressed happiness at the film’s success. ‘He was so happy, and he told me ‘I’m so happy, you genuinely deserve it’ and I said thank you,’ the Gadar 2 star revealed, before adding, ‘About the past issues…whatever they were, I would say time heals everything and we move ahead.’
Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar
Ex-flames Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar, who had nothing short of an ugly break up in the 1990s, also decided to patch up in 2023. Earlier this year, Akshay received an award from Raveena, following which the duo announced a film together.
