Deepika Padukone has often been trolled on multiple occasions. However, did you know, she was brutally trolled for auctioning her ensemble, which she wore for the late actor Jiah Khan’s funeral. The fanbase was left upset with her decision to auction the kurti she wore in 2013.
The Chennai Express actress left everyone shocked as she auctioned her outfits, which she wore for funerals, in 2021. While it was claimed that the funds raised from the auction would go to charity, a Twitterati shared pictures of Deepika’s clothes from the website and attached pictures of her appearances wearing the exact same at funerals.
The first picture was of a short kurti Deepika had worn for Jiah’s funeral. She auctioned it for Rs. 8000.
Apart from that, Deepika also auctioned the kurta which she wore at Priyanka Chopra’s father, Ashok Chopra’s funeral in 2013. She sold it for Rs. 2,700.
However, Deepika’s attempt to sell-off the outfits she wore at sensitive events did not go well with her fanbase.
In 2021, a Twitter user stepped up to speak up against the same and called out Deepika Padukone for auctioning such clothes from 2013, which she wore at two funerals.
The tweet read, ‘I am so shocked.. my favourite Deepika Padukone has auctioned her noncouture clothes from 2013. I repeat 2013 that she wore to different funeral events. Low blow!’ The user also added no one can justify it and call it charity.
Another netizen took a dig at Alia and pointed out how she copies everything Deepika does, and commented, ‘Alia Bhatt: adds to cart.’ Another commented, ‘Real classy. But I suppose selling it and getting some cash for it is better than seeing Ranveer Singh wear it to a football match with sneakers.’
